The MAPAMA statistics reveal that Spain has registered an increase in terms of organic vineyard, and also in terms of production, 2.6% compared to 2015. Thus, in 2016 the total reached 2,018,802 hectares of organic production area, exceeding for the first time two million hectares.
Regarding the organic vineyard, it stands out among the permanent crops with 106,508.6 hectares (11.1% of the total vineyard area), obtaining more than 209,000 tons of wine grapes in 2016.
